Sally to Join Slow Food Weekend in Comber

We’re delighted to share that Sally Barnes will be one of the special guests at the Slow Food Weekend taking place on 5-6 July 2025 at No.14 Georgian House in Comber, County Down, alongside fellow Slow Food advocates, renowned chefs Paula McIntyre MBE and Anthony O’Toole.

This two-day event is part of the Taste Summer Ards and North Down festival, a wider celebration of local food, seasonal flavours, and heritage taking place across the region throughout the summer.

Bringing together an inspiring mix of chefs, producers, writers, and campaigners, the weekend will feature conversations, tastings, and workshops focused on food heritage, biodiversity, and sustainable food systems across Ireland and beyond.

Sally will be taking part in several sessions across the weekend, including:

  • Saturday at 11 am - What is Slow Food and Why Does It Matter?
An opening conversation exploring the values of the Slow Food movement, with Paula McIntyre, Anthony O’Toole, Sally Barnes, and Jim Mulholland, head chef of No.14 Georgian House.

  • Saturday at 3 pm - Sustainable Fishing and Slow Seafood
Sally joins local fisherman Stuart Brown and chef Keith Boyle for a conversation on sustainable fishing, wild food, and the future of Irish seafood, followed by a live cookery demo.

Sally will also contribute to Sunday’s discussions, alongside a brilliant lineup of speakers covering everything from heritage horticulture and real bread to high-welfare livestock and the preservation of native pollinators.

Expect thoughtful conversations, hands-on tastings, and a celebration of local food traditions and regenerative food futures.

The full programme is available on the Visit Ards and North Down website.
