Woodcock Smokery Featured in Dutch TV Series with Yvette van Boven

Woodcock Smokery and The Keep have been featured in the new television series Bij Van Boven thuis, in Ierland by Yvette van Boven - a six-part programme exploring Ireland through food, landscape, and the people who shape it.

Filmed across Ireland, with a strong focus on West Cork, the series brings viewers into kitchens, farms, shorelines, and workshops - offering a deeply personal look at the country through the lens of those working closely with food and nature.

Sally Barnes appears in the series as part of a small group of producers, chefs, and makers who reflect the richness and diversity of Ireland’s food culture. Filmed at The Keep, the episode captures Sally’s lifelong work in traditional fish smoking and coastal foraging - a practice rooted in season, intuition, and over four decades of experience.

The series itself is a celebration of simple, honest food. From foraging along the Atlantic coastline to cooking over open fires and gathering around the table, it reflects a way of life that values connection - to place, to people, and to the ingredients at hand.

For Woodcock Smokery, this feature is part of a growing international interest in Ireland’s food story, one increasingly defined not by scale but by craft, knowledge, and a deep respect for the natural world.
